Reunião do Service Cluster em Maputo (datas da realização 24 e 25 de Agosto)

A COWI vai organizar o seu seminário de estradas e pontes pela primeira vez em Moçambique nos dias 25 e 26 de Agosto de 2010. O encontro designado Roads and Rail Service Cluster reunirá os responsáveis da COWI na área de estradas e será liderada pelo Director de Negócios do Service Cluster a nível do Grupo, o Sr. Jens Christophersen e pelo Gestor do Service Cluster em Africa, o Sr. Marcus Wattam. Participarão no encontro Innocent Macha da Tanzânia, Nathan do Uganda, Jan Kieler, Vice Presidente da COWI para Africa e Luís Magaço Jr., de Moçambique.

Os quadros séniores da AustralCOWI, que incluem os membros da Direcção, os Service Line Managers, o Chefe de Departamento Financeiro e a Gestora dos Grande projectos, se encontrarão para discutir a estratégia da AustralCOWI para o curto e médio (dois anos) prazos. O encontro visa avaliar que serviços o mercado demanda e suas tendências, e que preparação é requerida à empresa para que tire vantagem em relação às oportunidades de mercado. Será dado destaque especial à capacitação humana da empresa para que mantenha a sua competitividade. O encontro terá lugar em Maputo, Indy Village, entre os dias 26 e 27 de Agosto de 2010. Jan Kieler, Vice Presidente da COWI Africa, foi também convidado a fazer parte da equipa.
 
AustralCOWI going strong on water
24 November 2009: With several new water projects in the pipeline, AustralCOWI is becoming an important actor in the area of Water Sector Development in Mozambique, drawing upon the expertise and broad experience of the global COWI network in this area. COWI is already well recognized for several major water projects in the southern African region.

Mixing business and idealism
10 October 2009: After a bidding round with proposals from several organizations and companies, the international consultancy company COWI was selected to be in charge of implementing the ambitious project of CSSM (MASC) in Mozambique. COWI subsidiary in Mozambique, AustralCOWI is the company now implementing the project on field. Some members of Civil Society were reacting, saying that it wasn’t right to select a commercial company for such an idealistic project – “how can they preach democracy and citizens’ rights, when all they want is to make money…?”

Research to reduce poverty in Mozambique
October 2008: Research-based information is crucial for Mozambique's endeavours to reduce its poverty. During a course of 6 years AustralCOWI will in partnership with CMI (Chr. Michelsen’s Institute of Norway) produce six participatory and qualitative studies on poverty in Mozambique. The main argument is that qualitative studies are important for the monitoring and evaluation of poverty reduction policies.

AustralCOWI carries out baseline study on rural electrification
September 2008: Access to electricity and other forms of affordable energy is essential to eradication of poverty, economic growth and sustainable development. Throughout rural areas of Mozambique the lack of appropriate forms of energy is a major constraint to development.
