In the area of governance AustralCOWI focuses on key areas such as support to civil society, decentralization and environmental governance. Support to Civil Society – including management of grant mechanisms, advocacy, communication strategies, strategic planning, internal governance and capacity development. AustralCOWI has comprehensive experience in this area, especially from managing a major project called the Civil Society Support Mechanism (CSSM/MASC). Decentralization –  focusing on capacity building at local level, aiming at improving local capacity in financial planning. We have solid experience in financial management and capacity building, and deep knowledge of local government bodies. Environmental governance – providing consultancy services aiming at improving the way the Government, donors and Civil Society Organizations strategically/politically approach environmental concerns. We have special international expertise in the area of climate change, drawing upon capacities from the global COWI network.
