Improving technical and vocational training in Mozambique

15 December 2009: Since July this year AustralCOWI has been involved with a major project to improve the system for Technical, Vocational and Educational Training (TVET) in Mozambique. The objective of the project is to create a national authority to overlook and regulate the TVET schools, ensuring harmonization, good quality of the training, and the establishment of schools and training directed towards the needs of the market.

AustralCOWI going strong on water

24 November 2009: With several new water projects in the pipeline, AustralCOWI is becoming an important actor in the area of Water Sector Development in Mozambique, drawing upon the expertise and broad experience of the global COWI network in this area. COWI is already well recognized for several major water projects in the southern African region.

Mixing business and idealism

10 October 2009: After a bidding round with proposals from several organizations and companies, the international consultancy company COWI was selected to be in charge of implementing the ambitious project of CSSM (MASC) in Mozambique. COWI subsidiary in Mozambique, AustralCOWI is the company now implementing the project on field. Some members of Civil Society were reacting, saying that it wasn’t right to select a commercial company for such an idealistic project – “how can they preach democracy and citizens’ rights, when all they want is to make money…?”

Second edition of COWI Africa newsletter

October 2009: The second edition of the COWI Africa Newsletter presents, among others, two articles about AustralCOWI projects in Mozambique: one about the Civil Society Support Mechanism, another about FINSCOPE, nationwide survey aimed at measuring the access to finance by individuals across the country.
